AFFORDABLE NUTRITION

We are looking for solutions which can support our mission of delivering better nutrition to base of the pyramid consumers – are you up for the challenge?

At Arla Foods, it is in our DNA to make good nutrition available to as many people as possible. We have made a strong commitment to address the affordability and accessibility of our products across key markets in which we operate. As part of this commitment, we are seeking new ways to increase our offering of healthy and nutritious dairy-based products in developing countries and communities. These consumers are at the base of the pyramid where it can be more difficult to buy the nutritious food needed to support a healthy diet. Our aim is to find new ways of packing more nutrition into our products while still making them affordable to low-income families.

We are seeking solutions in the following 3 areas:

1. Affordable raw materials and ingredients
Low cost, nutritious raw materials which we can incorporate into powder or liquid products. Especially locally sourced ingredients from Africa or Asia.

2. Packaging
By reducing the cost of packaging, we will be able to include more nutrition into our products for the same price. We are especially looking for new packaging solutions with a high oxygen and light barrier for powdered products. Also of interest are materials which are more sustainable (recyclable, compostable) compared to our current packaging.

3. New distribution or business models
We are interested in new ways of distributing or selling products which will enable us to reach more consumers, especially those in rural areas.

The partners we look for do not have to be present locally, but the concept should be transferable and could include partnership/joint venture to scale tech/products to these markets and other relevant regions.

The evaluation panel selects the best ideas that move forward.

Pilot - starting 01.07

Receive feedback on your idea and engage with Arla Foods domain expert teams on a pilot project that could go all the way to implementation in our products, packaging, distributionor on our farms.
